Kylie MinogueReports that Kylie Minogue’s upcoming tour will be inspired by Barry Manilow are indeed true, according to a well-placed source. Minogue’s tour for her new album, “X,” begins in Paris in June. The source said Minogue will be doing her best to embody Lola, the title character in Manilow’s hit song “Copacabana.”

So, keep your eye out for “yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there,” but additionally, the Daily Mail reported that the show will be “filled with surprises,” including a “key moments in the production is when Kylie sings a rendition of ‘Copacabana’ with bells on.”

The source couldn’t confirm the specifics of Minogue’s choreography, but did say that Mr. Manilow himself might be making time to make a cameo or two on the tour. “There’s a good chance Barry will be making an appearance. He loves the idea and she’s a huge fan of his.”

Kylie MinogueKylie Minogue will pay tribute to Barry Manilow on her spectacular new tour.

The Australian pop princess is planning a show-stopping performance of the 64-year-old star’s classic hit ‘Copacabana’ for her upcoming ‘KYLIEX2008′ tour, which begins in Paris on May 6.

A source said: “The show is going to include a lot of surprises.

“But one of the key moments in the production is when Kylie sings a rendition of Barry Manilow’s ‘Copacabana’.”

As Kylie performs the song - which earned Manilow a Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance in 1979 - the stage will reportedly transform into a glitzy cruise ship.

The source added to Britain’s Daily Star newspaper: “It’s very theatrical. It all ties in nicely with Kylie’s love of showgirls.”

‘Copacabana’ refers to a famous New York nightclub of the same name and tells the story of a showgirl called Lola and her barman lover Tony.

Kylie MinogueKylie Minogue has launched one final attempt to crack the US.

The ‘Wow’ singer - who has only had two top 10 Stateside hits, ‘The Locomotion’ in 1988 and 2002’s ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ - is set to appear on several hit US TV shows to promote her new album ‘X’.

A source said: “It eats away at Kylie that she has never been big there. She has tried before and it didn’t happen. But being the kind of determined person she is, she’s giving it one more go.”

Yesterday (31.03.08), Kylie was interviewed on ‘The Today Show’ and won over the audience by opening her heart about her breast cancer battle.

She said: “I am feeling great. It is something that is always with me and on my mind, but you get up and carry on. My diagnosis was almost a blessing in disguise because it came midway through my tour. It was an incredible goal to have to get back on stage.”

Kylie also spoke about her desire for success in the US, saying: “It’s a notoriously difficult market. To know where I fit within that market is very difficult.”

The 39-year-old star is also booked to appear on ‘The Late Late Show’, ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ and ‘Dancing with the Stars’.
