Sarah Jessica ParkerHer new movie “Smart People” hits theaters this Friday, and Sarah Jessica Parker is hot on the promotional trail.

The “Failure to Launch” babe stopped by Rockefeller Center this morning for an appearance on the Today Show where she talked about her new film, as well as gave out a little bit of love advice to the broken hearted.

SJP advised, “I always tell the younger women that I’m around - and I seem to be around more and more younger women; I’m the older person lately - I always tell them to relish having made a bad choice, as long as they’re safe and not in any way hurt physically.”

She continued, “The emotional part of that - you must look back on that and really love that time that you thought ‘I’ll never get over this. I’ve made such a terrible choice. He’s broken my heart.’ And I think later in life, you really think, ‘God, that was fantastic. Those were the salad days.’ “

As for her new movie, “Smart People,” Parker explained the appeal of doing a movie that was a bit of a departure for her. “I thought the script was beautiful. It’s incredibly smart. It’s such a great observation of real life and the moments alone we spend in pursuit of love or contentment or satisfaction.”

Sarah Jessica Parker’s LA hate

Sarah Jessica ParkerSarah Jessica Parker hates Los Angeles because the city treats celebrities “like exotic creatures”.

The ‘Sex and the City’ star would never quit New York and move to Los Angeles because she believes the city, the home of Hollywood, is too obsessed with actors.

She told Hello! magazine: “For me it was never really a choice between New York and Los Angeles. I’ve always considered New York my home and since my husband Matthew Broderick was born and raised here we never even considered moving away.

“New York has the big advantage of not treating celebrities like exotic creatures. No-one cares because the city is so big and driven by so many other interests that people don’t obsess with actors as much as they do in Los Angeles, where it all revolves around Hollywood.”

Sarah has been married to ‘Inspector Gadget’ star Matthew for nearly 11 years, and the couple have a five-year-old son James Wilkie.

The 42-year-old actress can next be seen reprising her role as Carrie Bradshaw in ‘Sex and the City: The Movie’, which is released worldwide at the end of May.
