As previously reported by Gossip Girls, Britney Spears headed back home to spend some quality time with her family in Kentwood, Louisiana over the weekend.

And the Gimme More singer was spotted relaxing on the patio yesterday afternoon during a day full of baby shower activities for pregnant 17-year-old sister Jamie Lynn.

Britney flew into Kentwood aboard a private jet on Friday (May 2), with her father/co-conservator Jamie Spears by her side - making it the first venture back home since her aunt’s death in early 2007.

From here, reports tell that Spears “is expected to be in LA on Tuesday to attend the next court hearing in her child custody dispute with former husband Kevin Federline on May 6.”

When Neil Patrick Harris clarified his stance regarding Britney Spears’ involvement with “How I Met Your Mother,” saying yes, he did want her back on the show, some television insiders saw the move as solid evidence that negotiations to have the pop star return were definitely going well and likely nearing completion. (He originally opined that having her on the show was little more than a “casting stunt.”)

That speculation, it turns out, was true. People.com reported over the weekend that Spears is indeed heading back to prime time: “The show is ecstatic and so is Britney. She had so much fun the first time around she really wanted to come back,” a source told Web site.

However, there are members of the Spears camp who aren’t so ecstatic. “Sure, she had a fun time, but it wasn’t about a comeback,” said a source. “It was about getting her on the road to being better. The last thing we want is a new element of fame for her to have to deal with.”

The March 24 episode that featured Spears drew 10.62 million viewers - about a million more than the prior week’s episode. The episode also generated the largest audience in the 18-to-49 age range in the show’s three-year history.

Ever since she showed up on “How I Met Your Mother” we haven’t stopped hearing about how much the cast, crew, and audience loved Britney Spears as a sitcom actress.

So it’s not a surprise that the “Piece of Me” songstress is making her way back to the CBS set to have another go at the hit show.

An inside source told press, “The show is ecstatic and so is Britney. She had so much fun the first time around she really wanted to come back. It was a mutual decision to work together more.”

Spears originally appeared on “How I Met Your Mother” back on March 24th, playing a receptionist at a dermatologist’s office who fell for Josh Radnor’s character. Another cast member, Jason Segal, told press, “She was hilarious in the table-read, and I got to see her do the run-through as well, and she was great.”

Looking like she was ready to break a sweat, Britney Spears was spotted on her way to a Culver City, California gym yesterday.

The “Gimme More” singer sported a black tank top, red yoga pants and a pair of white crosstrainers as she made her way past the paparazzi.

After a good workout and a change of clothes, Spears was spotted out heading to the recording studio, along with her bodyguard, wearing a vintage leather jacket, blue top and a pair of retro jeans.

And it sounds like Brit may have a chance at getting back to normalcy when it comes to visitation with her sons Jayden James and Sean Preston.

She will be appearing before LA County Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon on May 6th accompanied by her father and a legal team to plead for restoration of overnight visits with her boys.

According to a source, she may get one sleepover a week if things go well. “Britney wants her kids back and she will do everything in her power to make that goal a reality.”
